A simple effect that can be used in many different places is the 'SNAP-N-POP' 4th of July firework. This effect/prop should be used with some caution. Not only are
there some dangers involved with using the product itself, it also can quickly create a mess that can be tracked in and through your Haunt and/or House.
I have used the SNAP-N-POP or POPS product in a few different ways. The easiest way is to spread the ground (carefully) with the little guys creating a trap for
trick-or-treaters walking down the sidewalk or up the drive way. I have also spread them out in my Haunted Garage. Using them in this way provides from some randomness and eventually the effect/prop
will die out when all the POPS have popped. However, it is a pretty cheap effect that can be reset again and again. I was able to grab a case of POPS for $20 at a local fireworks wholesaler. That
case included 6 boxes containing 50 boxes of POPS, each box containing 50 SNAPS. That is enough to supply years of haunts as well as 4th of July.
Other ideas in using pops must be thought out carefully. Throwing them at something seems reasonable, but never at anyone. When throwing, you must think of how the
debris will fly. Will they fly into people's eyes? Will they end up in the carpet? Please use common sense when thinking up ideas. Please write me with any goods ones and I'll post them on this site.
Snaps consist of a small amount of gravel or coarse sand impregnated with a minute quantity (~.08 milligrams) of silver fulminate high explosive and twisted in a
cigarette paper.
